The birth of Travel Galore
In 2008, a regular girl with a passion for Environment, Hospitality and Tourism, Matilda “Tilly” Kgaile, sat on the end of a jetty along the Chobe River in Kasane, sipping on coffee, and reminiscing about her amazing bush experiences throughout her life, when an overwhelming sense of appreciation for nature’s beauty engulfed her she exhaled “beauty galore” staring at the silhouette of the trees against the backdrop of the spectacular African sunset, and then an internal conversation of beautiful Africa ensued…
Then she thought: “wouldn’t it be wonderful to start a travel business and showcase Africa through my eyes” ….Right then she plucked up the courage “to blaze a trail”….. and “Travel Galore” it was!
Matilda “Tilly” Kgaile
“Tilly”, as she’s passionately known, was born in Maun and grew up in Kasane, the two tourist centers of Botswana. Being born and brought up in the tourism industry, Tilly has always had a great love and appreciation for wilderness and people.
She studied Hospitality and Tourism Management in Austria and has worked in camps in the Okavango Delta. She later joined the family businesses (lodge, bush camp, coffee shop, a mobile safari outfit and garage in Kasane, Chobe, Botswana) as Operations, Sales & Marketing Director.
This role has exposed her further to travel as well as positioned her to be more well-rounded when it comes to all things travel such as dealing with the self-drive market and the dynamics that are involved when one embarks on that kind of adventure.
Tilly has travelled extensively throughout Botswana, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, South Africa, Austria, Denmark, Netherlands, France, Italy, UK, Japan, and USA, mostly on business, promoting and selling relevant hospitality businesses, studying as well as vacationing.
