About Botswana
Due to Botswana’s conservation policies, she offers one of Africa’s most unspoilt wilderness experiences with an abundance of wildlife.
She boasts the world’s largest inland Delta, the Okavango (UNESCO’s 1000th World Heritage Site), which is home to an array of phenomenal bird species.
Botswana’s peace loving nation is made up of more than 20 different tribes, spread throughout the country, who are responsible and courteous enough to preserve, protect and share their natural culture and heritage with the ever so welcome visitor.
Seasons & Temperatures
Unlike most parts of the Northern hemisphere that enjoy 4 distinct seasons: Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring, Botswana’s seasons are not that defined. Botswana has virtually 2 seasons: Summer (also termed as our rainy season), begins in November and ends in March and Winter begins in May and ends in August.
Summer days are generally hot with October being the hottest month of the entire season. Temperatures tend to be cooler in the mornings and evenings. On most occasions during the summer, temperature drops are caused by the formation of rain clouds.
Winter months can be crispy, especially in the mornings and late evenings, but are very pleasant during the day. July and August tend to be the coldest of the winter months due to the wind factor. The in-between periods – April/ May and September/October tend to be dry as the winter months, with day temperatures being cooler than in summer and the nights warmer than in winter.
